X-rays and computer tomography (CT)
The in-house radiology department at the Schmerzklinik Basel has three state-of-the-art sections. The first carries out conventional examinations with the help of a low-radiation, digital X-ray machine. Depending on particular needs, for instance, this section can produce special rheumatological or orthopaedic images.
The department also has a computer tomograph (CT). Apart from conventional diagnoses, this also enables anaesthetists to carry out interventional procedures. On top of this, we now have a DEXA (dual-energy x-ray apsorptiometry) machine that can be used to measure bone density. The values obtained provide vital information about the presence of osteoporosis.
All image data is digitally archived and can be accessed quickly anywhere in the clinic. Patients can also request their results on a CD.
